Stavlos is a very small village located on the way between Avlaki and Pigi. But Stavlos has a pond that offers a diverse fauna. In addition to frogs, turtles, grass snakes and dragonflies, there are plenty of other animals. For me, the pond in Stavlos is one of my favorite places on Ikaria, where I can stay for hours because there is always something new to discover. The surroundings are also beautiful. Behind the chapel, a path leads down to the stream, where I encountered the beech marten. On the road between Stavlos and the village of Pigi you will find the monastery of Theoktistis. In my opinion, an absolute highlight on Ikaria, a "must-go-to". It is not known exactly when the monastery was built, but it is believed to have been built in 1688. However, there are also studies that suggest that construction began as early as the 15th or 16th century. What makes this place so special is its enchanting location in the middle of forest on a hillside. You will be enveloped by silence and enchanted by the charm of this place. The ceilings and walls inside the main church are covered with ancient frescoes painted by the artist Pantelis Hatzis, also known as Chatzis Pantelis Anagnostou. Just a short walk above the monastery is the Theoskepasti Chapel, built in the style of the original houses on Ikaria: a walled cave under a huge boulder. A truly enchanting place that invites you to linger.

Stavlos ist ein sehr kleines Dorf, der sich auf dem Weg zwischen Avlaki und Pigi befindet. Aber Stavlos hat einen Teich, der eine vielfältige Fauna bietet. Neben Fröschen, Wasserschildkröten, Ringelnattern und Libellen findet sich jede Menge anderes Getier. Für mich zählt der Teich in Stavlos zu einem meiner Lieblingsplätze auf Ikaria, an dem ich mich stundenlang aufhalten kann, weil es immer wieder etwas Neues zu entdecken gibt. Auch die Umgebung ist wunderschön. Hinter der Kapelle führt ein Weg hinunter zum Bach, wo ich dem Marder begegnet bin.
Auf dem Weg zwischen Stavlos und dem Dorf Pigi befindet sich das Kloster Theoktistis. Meiner Meinung nach ein absolutes Highlight auf Ikaria, ein "Must-Go-To". Wann genau das Kloster gebaut wurde ist unbekannt, aber man nimmt das Jahr 1688 an. Es gibt aber auch Untersuchungen, die einen Baubeginn bereits im 15. oder 16. Jahrhundert vermuten lassen. Was diesen Ort so besonders macht, ist seine bezaubernde Lage mitten Wald an einem Hang gelegen. Man wird von Stille umfangen, und vom Charme dieses Ortes verzaubert. Die Decken und Wände der Hauptkirche sind von uralten Fresken bedeckt, die von dem Künster Pantelis Hatzis, oder auch Chatzis Pantelis Anagnostou genannt, gemalt worden sind. Nur einen kurzen Fußweg oberhalb des Klosters befindet sich die Theoskepasti Kapelle, die im Stil der ursprünglichen Häuser auf Ikaria angelegt ist: Eine ummauerte Höhle unter einem riesigen Felsbrocken. Ein wirklich bezaubernder Platz, der zum Verweilen einlädt.
