Red Rock Canyon - Hiking the Calico Tanks Trail

In this video, we take you along our hike of the Calico Tanks Trail in Red Rock Canyon. This National Conservation Area is located near Las Vegas in Mountain Springs, Nevada. The scenic drive is a one-way route, so be sure to stop at each landmark, and plan which hiking trails to go on. This area gets extremely hot in the summer, but we were there in March, and the weather was mild and pleasant!

We chose to hike the Calico Tanks Trail, which was a two-hour moderate/strenuous hike to the top of the mountain. There are some flat areas, lots of rocky steps, and steep inclines. You will have to scramble over rocks in some parts of the trail. Bring a lot of water! The trail takes you through the wash and leads you to the beautiful water feature/natural tank. The vibrant red and white limestone and sandstone rocks, natural water feature, and sweeping views of the Las Vegas valley made for an epic hiking experience!
