The name Scars are not physical scars on the Vikings, but scars of influence left on the islands after the Norse occupation in the 8th Century. Indeed, Magnus Eunson, the founder of Highland Park in 1798, could trace his ancestry directly back to those Viking expeditionaries who settled in Orkney, and left their marks or scars on the history, culture, and people of the islands. This classic Highland Park whisky features: Slight Smoke, heather honey, citrus, peppery spice, and maritime coastal notes. Highland Park Distillery is a single malt whisky distillery located in Kirkwall, the largest town and capital of the Orkney Islands, situated north of mainland Scotland. The distillery was founded in 1798 by Magnus Eunson, a direct descendant of the Vikings, who set up an illicit still in a bothy at High Park, where the name Highland Park is derived, and became the site of today’s distillery. Uniquely, Highland Park uses 5 keystones in the production of its single malts: Aromatic Peat Hobbister Moor; Hand Turned Floor Maltings; Sherry Oak Casks; Cool Maturation; and Cask Harmonisation. The Highland Park range is extensive including: 10 Year Old; 12 Year Old; 18 Year Old; 25 Year Old; 30 Year Old; 40 Year Old; and 50 year old, the oldest and most prestigious release.
