Crowd at Newmarket racecourse before the Derby. Some WAAF's (Women Auxiliary Air Force) place a bet with bookmaker. Various shots of the horses being paraded around paddock before the race. The tapes go up and they are racing. Various shots during the race - finish in close "Straight Deal" wins the race by a head. Close up shot of one of the WAAF women tearing up her ticket, she lost. Various shots of "Straight Deal" being led in with jockey Tommy Carey, also the owner Miss Dorothy Paget and Walter Nightingall the trainer.
