Counterpoint | Modular Composition | Episode 04

Описание к видео Counterpoint | Modular Composition | Episode 04

The 'counterpoint' technique is combining two or more melodic sequences so they interact in an interesting way, but seem to be unrelated to each other, except that they're part of the same composition or song. They can have different timing and lengths, note ranges, etc. Counterpoint is perfect for modular composing since we usually have monophonic VCO's and no chords. So we're used to improvising with arps and delay lines. In this episode, I'll dive into time signatures like triplets and dotted notes which are very useful to 'weave' different melodies together into a tapestry of sound.
