A long and challenging walk on Exmoor National Park in Somerset. I'd driven down with the intention of staying nearby for three nights of camping (at Halse Farm near Winsford). Car full loaded with kit; I made my way to Simonsbath, a short drive from Exford.This walk would take in many stretches of footpath that were new to me. Following the Two Moors Way south along the River Barle; passing Wheal Eliza cottage; making my way west to Five Burrows Hill and then on to Chains Barrow - after a failed attempt to get there a few years ago.


I wouldn't necessarily recommend this route (17.2 miles - map available at the end of the video) with all the road walking required (something that's unheard of on Dartmoor) but it was a way for me to get about a see different places without otherwise driving in between. This was part of a three-day warm up in preparation for tackling the Cleveland Way in Yorkshire.
