An Orange man was recently sentenced to 10 years in federal prison.
Investigators say 44-year-old Joseph Lloyd White attempted to sexual entice a 9-year-old child.

"That predator is counting on that you will make that contact or accept that contact so that they can start grooming you and they're very good at what they do," says Sgt. Rob Flores of the Beaumont Police Department.
Investigators say White and the child messaged each other through the popular KIK messaging app. The man exchanged sexually explicit photographs with the 9-year-old child, according to investigators.
"Parents took a look at the phone at one point in time just checking up and see what the child was doing a seeing she had some adult type communication with an adult man and called the police," says Jeffrey Curl, a BPD detective.
Sgt. Flores says parents need to stay up-to-date about their child's online habits.
"What the parent need to do is do their homework do their homework," says Flores. "They need to do research on social media and apps so they can be armed with the kind of knowledge to do that kind of stuff."
There are websites that can teach parents about new technology people are using to message each other. In addition to learning about new apps, Sgt. Flores says parents should always check their children's phones.
"I think the children will have to understand that you're doing this because you care about them and you don't want them hurt and that's the way you need to approach it, " he says. "But you need to be very proactive in researching and setting and enforcing those hard, hard boundaries and rules."
