Hiking a Volcano in Japan’s Northern Alps - UNREAL Day Hike in Kamikochi

Mount Yake (or Yakedake), an active volcano, looms over the Kamikochi valley, and if you hike to it's summit, you can get extraordinary views of the mountain range and valley below. We did our hike along the Shin-Nakanoyu trail, which can be accessed via car. Mt. Yake is especially great as it's one of the few mountains you can do as a day hike in the Northern Alps.
