Being in matric is an exciting period of one’s life, also a very tumultuous one because it comes with all these high expectations from peers and family.

Unfortunately, I failed my matric on the first go and it is not that I was dumb or stupid. I failed because I had this fear of not disappointing my friends and family. Looking back and thinking about it, I feel like I struggled to grasp methods of how to study effectively, problem solving and conceptualization. I also realized that failure was not the end of the world because I was able to rewrite and plan my future well.

I am sharing my story to every kid that is about to write their first national exams feeling really
overwhelmed by all the pressure. I would like to wish you luck and say that you can pass matric with flying colours, don't let self-doubt and pressure take over you. This is your journey you have been doing well and for the past few years of your life at school, so keep calm and make this exit out of high school a great one. Woop Woop!!!
