Google News Initiative & Tech Valley Presents Digital Sahafat | Training Program for Journalists 🇵🇰

Last week, Google News Initiative & Tech Valley launched a training program for Pakistani journalists called “Digital Sahafat” which aims to equip 1,000 journalists with the skills they need to produce accurate and engaging digital news stories. 📰

The program was launched at the Serena Hotel in Islamabad and was attended by 50+ policymakers and industry leaders including Kate Beddoe, Managing Director of APAC News Partnerships at Google, Attaullah Tarar, Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Shaza Fatima Khawaja, State Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication.

Through this initiative, we're:
✍️ Partnering with news organisations and educational institutions
💡 Providing training on advanced online research techniques
🚫 Combating misinformation through online verification tools
🤖 Helping news organisations harvest #AI to serve communities

In the first phase, we're training 40 Master Trainers 📚 from different news organisations, enabling journalists across the country to benefit from a nurturing network of experts who will cascade their knowledge to the rest of the industry 🌐.
