Community-Based Education Forum at Africa Celebrates 2025 advanced student-innovation and the future of learning in Africa.
The Community-Based Education Forum which is the education component of Africa Celebrates was held at UNECA in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The event brought together over 100 students, educators, and community partners to advance real-world, community-centered learning.
The CBE Forum opened with the Community Advocacy Project Expo, where students from various high schools presented research on microplastic pollution, the digital divide, global media culture, women’s hygiene access, youth risk behaviors, and students well-being. Attendees engaged through posters, multimedia displays, and direct dialogue.
Key sessions included the CBE Student Ambassador Panel, highlighting student insights and the value of collaboration, and the CBE Collaboration Panel, which brought together educators, civil society partners, and a university professor to discuss implementation challenges and best practices for youth-led community research.
The Forum concluded with a certificate ceremony and the unveiling of the long-term vision for Community-Based Education Centers, designed to blend academics with Indigenous Knowledge, AI innovation, sustainability, entrepreneurship, and Third Millennium Skills.
The Forum was delivered in partnership with the Community-Based Education Movement, with generous support from The Akinsheye Collective and Anne Taylor, Esquire.
Africa Celebrates 2025 was packaged by Legendary Gold Limited in partnership with Afronova, in collaboration with the African Union Commission, UNECA, and the Embassies of Nigeria, Burundi, and Côte d'Ivoire, with additional support from the US and EU Missions to the AU and Ethiopia’s Ministry of Tourism.
