For many customers, the production of their injection molded part is not the end of the manufacturing process so in an effort to accommodate our customers’ needs from start to finish, Crescent Industries is proud to offer a wide selection of post processing operations. This allows us to supply the customer with not just an injection molded part but a branded and complete product that is ready for the next steps of a project or to be taken directly to market. For starters we offer a number of part decoration methods for aesthetics, identification, directions, or any other marking that may be needed on the surface of an injection molded part. Pad printing allows us to take a 2D image or line of text and stamp it onto a 3-dimensional plastic part. This process uses an etched plate of the desired image or text and transfers this to the silicone pad which then stamps the image onto the product. For more durable applications, we also offer three different laser techniques including laser marking, engraving and etching. Each of these utilizes a precise laser beam which marks the surface of the part itself with the desired text or graphic. Laser marking discolors the surface leaving a black or grey appearance. While pad printing and laser techniques are perfect for more simple applications, we recently added inkjet printing to our post production operations giving customers the ability to print high-definition colored logos and text directly onto a three-dimensional part. Our industrial inkjet printers work in a similar way to the inkjet printers that many of us have in our homes. The printer lays the image onto the part and utilizes an ultraviolet LED to instantly cure the ink leaving behind a precise high-resolution image. These machines have the ability to print multicolored images simultaneously and can even print on several different parts at once. These types of decorative markings are perhaps the most commonly requested post production process, but these are just the first of many post production operations that we offer here at Crescent Industries.
