A PHANTOM PHRIDAY for PHiphty PHantastic Years

The year 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the iconic twin-engine, cold war era, fighter get, F-4 Phantom in active service with the Hellenic Air Force. The jet is currently operated by the 338 Fighter/Bomber Squadron “Ares” based in 117CW in Andravida.

The base personnel along with HAF General Staff organized an unofficial event to celebrate with hundreds of aviation enthusiasts. The guests had the chance to visit static exhibition (indoor & outdoor) and plastic model exhibition, fly with simulators and watch a pair of F-4s perform various combat maneuvers and fly pasts. This wonderful day closed with lots of food and drinks.

The event took place on Friday, July 5th, taking the name “Phantom Phriday”, a trend formed on social media during the last few years.

An official ceremony for the 50 years of the F-4 in HAF’s service will follow later, probably in Autumn, again in Adravida AB.
