🐟 Ingredients
For Fish Cleaning (Smell Removal):
1 kg Tilapia fish
1 tsp salt
½ tsp turmeric
1 tbsp vinegar
For Masala Paste:
4 onions
15–20 garlic cloves
1 cup fresh coriander leaves
3 tomatoes
3–4 green chilies (adjust to taste)
2 tsp coriander seeds
1 tsp white sesame seeds
½ tsp yellow mustard seeds
½ tsp black mustard seeds
2 tbsp dry coconut powder
For Marination:
2 tbsp prepared masala paste
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chili powder
Salt to taste
For Aloo (Potatoes):
3 potatoes, cut into thick oval pieces
2 tbsp masala paste
For Curry / Gravy:
3 tbsp cooking oil
2–3 dried red chilies
5–10 curry leaves
½ tsp fenugreek seeds (methi dana)
½ tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp Kashmiri red chili powder
1 tsp sambar powder
1 tsp coriander powder
Water as required
For Garnish:
Fresh coriander leaves
🍛 Method
Remove Fish Smell:
Mix fish with salt, turmeric, and vinegar. Rest for 5 minutes, then wash and strain well.
Prepare Masala Paste:
Grind all masala paste ingredients into a smooth, aromatic paste.
Marinate Fish:
Marinate fish with masala paste, turmeric, red chili powder, and salt. Rest for 20 minutes.
Marinate Potatoes:
Coat potatoes with masala paste and keep aside.
Fry Fish & Aloo:
Deep fry fish lightly until golden. Fry potatoes until golden brown. Keep aside.
Prepare Gravy:
Heat oil in a pan. Add dried red chilies, curry leaves, and fenugreek seeds.
Add ground masala paste and spices. Cook on medium flame for 5–10 minutes until oil separates.
Final Cooking:
Add water to make a slightly thin gravy. Add fried fish and potatoes.
Cook on low flame for 5–7 minutes until fish is soft and gravy is flavorful.
Serve:
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves. Serve hot with steamed rice or roti.
