Giethoorn is a beautiful and charming village nestled in the countryside of Netherlands!
The highlight of this village is that the villagers mostly travel by boats. Therefore many people call it Dutch Venice and the Venice of Netherlands.
We rented an electric whisper boat and we rode it ourselves across the canals of Giethoorn. This was a very nice experience as you only get to enjoy the nature, whistle of the birds and see the nicely landscaped thatched farmhouses of the villagers.
You need to go to the old part of village for this boat ride experience. There is an interesting story behind the formation of canals in Giethoorn.
