Before you today is the seldom seen 1955 very first press of this highly regarded Gospel stomper featuring and later re-issued crediting the outspoken civil rights activist the Dorothy Love Coates as the lead artist with the "Gospel Harmonettes"

Original Gospel Harmonettes were already well known as a girl gathering with a huge presence whipping up fervor when ever they performed.

This song, like many of their recording, starts with Evelyn Starks signature piano notes that many keyboardists attempted to replicate but never equaled her rhythmic dance inducing pulses. Mildred Madison Miller was the mezzo soprano who had a snarling authentic delivery. The group included the larger than life Dorothy Love (Coates), Odessa Edwards, Vera Conner Kolb, Marion Williams etc. But it Dorothy who was the driving force behind this session that ended up being one of their least successful releases. Consequently the original, today is extremely elusive.

Dorothy Love (Coates) was the mother of the stage "encore" would often have members of the group lead her basck onto the stage, alone to milk even more applause, leaving the audience in no doubt who was he star of the house.
