H. P. Lovecraft is one of those authors who you love or you hate in a Marmite like fashion, or perhaps one that you have avoided or missed. Buckle up for a trip into the foundational story of the 'Cthulhu Mythos'. Say what?

It's rather a jarring and discombobulating tale and in 2025 it is perhaps not ideal bed-time listening for the very faint hearted. If the sight of roadkill, wobbling jellies or nature docs with squids or octopi put you in a muck sweat then you had best seek entertainment elsewhere. Cthulhu is an ancient monster from the stars now relocated to somewhere in the South Pacific. It/he/she/they has/have been there for aeons and is/are responsible for giving mankind an unmediated subconscious feeling of anxiety - possibly like the one you get following a generous Chinese takeaway.

However for the relatively robust The Call of Cthulhu should pose no major problems. There are lots of H. P. Lovecraft Cthulhu stories and many spinoffs. It's a bit of sci-fi fantasy fun to some and very serious to others. So tread warily. Enjoy. Leave a comment maybe.

And sorry about the pronunciations. Even Lovecraft changed his mind about them from time to time.
