Plant similar to a potato or yam by cutting the root into slips. Plant when soil is above 60 degrees. Plant with 1 to 3 inches of soil on top. And, have the skin side facing up. Root stimulator is suggested, but not neccissary. However, without root stimulator it may take 6 to 8 weeks before the 1st vine emerges.
Name root can handle some drought if roots are established and vine has started to grow rapidly. However, it also loves wet soil. Therefore, dig a hole deep, so that when the root is covered, the hole will look like a bowl to catch as much water as possible. In other words, have the NAME ROOT area slighly below ground level, then rain water will fill the hole, keeping the root very moist for a longer period of time.
Allow me to tell you in detail, all about the vine this plant grows...

The vine is very easily manageable because the vine is easy to cut. It can be broken with bare hands.
If a support for the vine is not available, then the vine will grow on itself, and make an attractive mound of vines and leaves about 8 feet wide in one season. However, at least a long stick is suggested to give support to the first vine that grows. Then all the other vines will heap on top.
