How does your employee value proposition – EVP – help you get, keep and grow brilliant people?

Now, employee value proposition can feel like a buzzword, and for this video, we're going to call it EVP. It's much less of a mouthful and a bit more fun.

So how does your EVP help you get, keep and grow brilliant people? Well, it ultimately flows across your whole employee experience, from pre-life, early life, to in-life, to even the afterlife when someone's left you.

But how do you communicate your EVP across your business? Well, it has an internal and an external lens. So externally, you're going to be thinking about your careers website. Because ultimately, you want people to think about what it means to work for you. Do they understand the skills, the attributes, the ways of working, the nuances, the people that work within your organisation?

So that's the external lens. What's equally important is the internal communication of your EVP. And this is where you want to work with your internal comms team. You want to be thinking about really cool ways of bringing to life, for people starting in your business, but also the people that become advocates, sponsors of your business internally. So that might be through the intranet, for example. It might be through blogs, it might be through career stories; loads of different ways in which you can get people excited about working within your organisation.

So think about internal and external channels. It's really important that you get a reason for being within your organisation, translated in a really simple and effective way. Because what you want to create is talent scouts: people that work internally to move people across your organisation, but also out there scouting for the best people. Because ultimately, why do people work for you? They want to feel motivated, engaged and proud of the organisation that they're working for. And that's how your EVP can work both internally and externally.
