The Government of the Philippines continues its Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination rollout following the recent arrival of Pfizer - BioNTech vaccine supplies through a symbolic vaccination at the Lakeshore Mega Vaccination Hub along C6 Road in Taguig City on May 13, 2021.
On the evening of May 10, the Philippines welcomed the arrival of 193,050 doses of COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer – BioNTech, the 4th vaccine brand made available to the nation against the virus. It is also the country’s first shipment of doses from the American pharmaceutical company through the COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access (COVAX) facility led by the World Health Organization (WHO).
According to the Department of Health (DOH), the Pfizer - BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines will be distributed to Metro Manila, Cebu and Davao where there are sufficient storage facilities in handling the temperature requirements. Priority Groups A1 to A3 composed of healthcare workers and medical frontliners, senior citizens and persons with comorbidities are the eligible vaccine recipients.
