Lake Somerville Marina in Brenham TX. is the place we chose to camp. We were going to stay at one of the two state parks but they were all full. I am glad because this camp ground was really nice, clean bathrooms, and in a nice spot on the lake by the dam. The marina has ice and bait and a boat launch. It was 25 to camp and 5 dollars per boat. They counted our kayaks as boats so it cost 35 total for one night. I started out fishing a topwater spittin image walk the dog bait and ended up catching a small white bass on it. Then I targeted the schooling ones with the fly rod, which is so much fun. It took me a minute to figure out they wanted me to strip that bait FAST. Once I got it figured out they were biting like crazy. Great trip, brats on the fire, great friends, and cold brews. I could not have asked for a better weekend.
