Actor Naresh's Son Naveen Vijay Krishna About Kota Srinivasa Rao

Naveen Vijay Krishna has been cutting teasers and trailers for his film Oorantha Anukuntunnaru for the past two days when we speak to him for this interview. Isn’t he an actor, then why is he at the editing table? He hails from a film family. He is Vijaya Nirmala’s grandson and actor Naresh’s son. He shares that since childhood, he was interested in acting but his grandmother wanted him to focus on studies. So he learnt animation and editing and developed an interest in directing films.
Naveen didn’t have any formal training, he worked on the job. He worked on Rana Daggubati’s ad films and also cut around 1000 trailers, the notable ones being Rakhi, Chiruta, Chandamama and Danger. He also did the sound design for Arundhati. Recalling his stint, he says “I stopped all that now. After a point, you get vexed, but since this is my film and I have some time, I did it. I aim to be a director in the next five or six years.”
The compliments he received for his editing pushed him to do more; director Krishna Vamsi even summoned him, heaped praise and also offered him Danger. Producer Shyam Prasad Reddy asked him to do the sound designing for Arundhati after watching the trailer of Jagadam. For this Naveen says he is indebted to Krishna Vamsi and Shyam Prasad Reddy who believed in him enough. Naveen adds, “I took up editing. On the other hand I developed health issues. If it is an emotional scene I would edit till I cry, I would spend days and nights in the editing studio during the post-production of Rakhi. A film is born at the editing table.”
Right now, as an actor, Naveen looks forward to his film Oorantha Anukuntunnaru which releases on Saturday. Rashi Khanna sang a number and Naveen did the promotional video for it. The music for the film is by Radhakrishna who had composed for Chandamama and Godavari.
His last film Nandini Nursing House didn’t work well at the box office, though it did fetch him good reviews; so it didn’t push his career forward. He muses, “As an actor, it is complicated. As a technician, you do your job and you are done, but with acting, so many perspectives and public opinion are involved. I felt Nandini Nursing Home needed some editing, but I didn’t want to get involved in that as I am an actor in it and I don’t like to invade the director’s space.”
Naveen's debut film as an actor was Aina Istam Nuvvu co-starring Keerthy Suresh — which has been in the making since 2015 — is likely to release in December 2019 or early next year. Oorantha... too was delayed for financial reasons.
Naveen shares that the story of Oorantha... is set in a village called Ramapuram (shot in Palakollu) where all major decisions are taken by Leelavathi (essayed by Jayasudha), who is Naveen’s grandmother. Rao Ramesh plays the Devil’s Advocate. The hero and heroine meet for pelli choopulu but they are in love with someone else. Srinivasa Avasarala plays the second lead. The conflict in the film is all about “Heart Vs Mind,” concludes Naveen.
