This Ethiopian woman lived with agonising pain until we found her

Semira is a young mother-of-two who has lived with a sharp, stabbing pain in both eyes for two years. Every time she blinked, her eyelashes painfully scratched the surface of her eye and made it harder for her to see. Without surgery, 20-year-old Semira risked becoming permanently blind.

Despite advances in eye health care, trachoma remains the world’s leading cause of infectious blindness. Ethiopia bears more than half the world’s burden of trachoma. But with your support, this agonising disease can be eliminated.
