When it comes to food, visitors to Seoul know they will want to stop by Gwangjang Market and try some of the many traditional foods of Korea. And being that I’ve never filmed at Gwangjang Market, I thought it was a good idea to show you what I ate at this famous market.

If you’ve ever seen the series on Netflix, called Street Food Asia, you’ll know they filmed at Gwangjang market showcasing a popular Korean dish called Kalguksu, knife-cut noodles. Now of course there are many different stalls at Gwangjang market selling kalguksu, but they put their attention to one particular lady named, Cho Yon Soon. So, I made it a point to go find her stall and try some of her kalguksu. I’m such a fan of kalguksu, so I could not find anything negative to say about this particular kalguksu. It was just a solid bowl of kalguksu.

I also had an opportunity to try some other traditional Korea food, such as tteokbokki, mayak kimbap, kkwabaegi, and bindaeduk. Although much of the food at Gwangjang market is a bit pricier than other markets in Korea, the experience of visiting the oldest and largest traditional market in Korea is well worth a visit. If you are on vacation and you’re a tourist, do what tourist do and enjoy yourself.

Kalguksu (칼국수 Korean Knife Cut Noodle Soup) - 6000 krw ($4.62usd)
Meat and Kimchi Dumplings - 6000 krw ($4.62usd)
Bindaeduk (빈대떡 Korean mung bean pancakes) - 5000 krw ($3.89usd)
tteokbokki (떡볶이 simmered rice cake) - 3000 krw ($2.31usd)
mayak kimbap (마약김밥 만들기 small kimbap/Korean veggie sushi roll) - 3000 krw ($2.31usd)
kkwabaegi (Korean Donuts) - regular twist 1000won ($0.77usd) and Sweet Potato dount is 1500won
