On Friday, June 7, Arkansas Lt. Governor Tim Griffin met with state, county and city officials while conducting a flood survey. The officials met on Front Street in Dardanelle to discuss what changes should be made in the future to prevent the amount of loss the area experienced during the flooding, what officials learned as they prepared for the flood and they surveyed various areas that were affected by the flooding.
Dardanelle Mayor Jimmy Witt, Yell County Judge Mark Thone, Dardanelle Police Department Chief Wilson Short, Arkansas State Representative Gary Stubblefield, Yell County Emergency Management Director Jeff Gilkey, and Executive Director of the Association of Arkansas Counties, Chris Villines participated in the discussion and the survey with Griffin.
Lt. Governor Griffin began the flood survey at 8 a.m. Friday morning in Fort Smith and continued the survey in Dardanelle. Throughout the day, Griffin traveled to Russellville, Morrilton, Perryville, and Conway. The survey ended at just after 5 p.m. In Pine Bluff.
