Edgewall Inn

Welcome back to day 45! Our land today is Edgewall Inn and comes from one of the better sets in the past few years, Wilds of Eldraine. Similarly to Final Fantasy, quite a bit of Wilds of Eldraine packs were cracked, leading to many cards becoming very cheap and as such Edgewall Inn only costs $0.08 for the regular printing and $0.25 for the foil.

Edgewall Inn is an average land that does come into play tapped, but as it enters you are able to choose a color which the Inn can produce. It also has a 3 mana activated ability that taps and sacks this land to return a card with adventure from your graveyard to your hand. However, this activated ability does make this land quite narrow in terms of what kinds of decks it can be used effectively in. Some cards that are pretty interesting to play with Edgewall Inn are Flaxen Intruder, the Final Fantasy rare lands, and Callous Sellsword.

At the very least Edgewall Inn is a little bit of extra recursion that can be used to recur some stronger cards back to your hand, but with, surprise surprise, earthbending this land can do quite a bit more work. As with Eden yesterday, turning Edgewall Inn into a creature let’s you use Training Grounds to lower the activated ability cost of the recursion to a single mana and allows you to immediately recur the Inn to the battlefield, albeit tapped. Another interesting wrinkle you can play with this land is the Final Fantasy rare lands that have adventures. For example, you could sack one of the Final Fantasy rare lands, like Jidoor, Aristocratic Capital, for value. Then you could recur it back to your hand with Edgewall Inn and then return Edgewall Inn to the battlefield at the same time. You'll be able to then play the adventure again which could potentially be used to mill someone's deck by another half.
