Описание к видео West Highland Way - Day 2 - Timelapse - Drymen to Rowardennan

Timelapse Day 2 of West Highland Way, Oct 1st 2019
Drymen to Rowardennan (16 mi / 26 km)

The descent down Conic Hill is a bit choppy and bumpy unfortunately. I tried to apply some stabilization to it and it's a tad rough so just buckle up through that section ;)

The trail leaves Drymen and passes through Garadhban Forest. Leaving the forest you can choose to climb Conic Hill, 361m in height with great views over Loch Lomond – or a low level alternative path that skirts below the hill. Reaching the eastern banks of Loch Lomond at Balmaha, you follow the shore through forestry until you reach the tranquil setting of Rowardennan, which is nestled at the foot of Ben Lomond.

Day 2 of hiking with a projection of 21 km, but we actually went 26 km.
13.01 km in 3:35:47 starting at 9:05 am
12.93 km in 3:09:49 starting at 1:30 pm

Had a great breakfast around 7:30 then headed to the butcher for some meat pies then to the store for lunches and then to get our passports stamped.

First part of the trip was easy going through sheep pastures and then it was Conic Hill !!

Climbing Conic hill (about 1000ft / 300m high) was challenging but it seemed even harder going down. Extremely windy at the top of the hill.

Had lunch at the Oak Tree Inn (beer, fries and onion rings). We also ate our sandwiches we picked up in Drymen. Kathy had her very first Shandy and enjoyed it very much.

After every lunch it was over 3 hours straight walking up and down to the Rowardennan Hotel. Nothing much around so we had drinks and dinner here. Ordered cake and ice cream for Ross for his birthday!!

Everyone is sore and tired, but a great day was had by all.

Rowardennan & Loch Lomond
The largest freshwater lake in Britain, Loch Lomond is over 23 miles long and 5 miles wide at its widest point. Loch Lomond's beauty has drawn visitors from all over the world. Famous writers such as Boswell, Johnson, Sir Walter Scott, William Wordsworth and John Keats have all visited its shores - and Queen Victoria sailed on a steamer from Inversnaid in 1869. Steamers used to provide the main form of transport, linking the loch side with Balloch. The small village of Rowardennan on the east shore of Loch Lomond nestles at the foot of Ben Lomond This is Rob Roy country. One of Rob Roy's sons brought a kidnapped heiress to the Rowardennan Inn and forced her to go through a ceremony of marriage; a plot for which he was hanged in Edinburgh. The Inn served as a wayside halt for the drovers who brought their highland cattle across the loch by ferry on their way to the markets of Stirling and Falkirk. Rising from the east shore of Loch Lomond, to a height of 974 m (3,193 ft), is Ben Lomond, the most southerly ‘Munro’ in Scotland. The road along the eastern shore of Loch Lomond stops at Rowardennan and the only way to continue along the shore is on foot.
