Critics question the need for such a force in a region already heavily militarized, with an estimated 800,000 Indian soldiers and paramilitary personnel deployed. They argue that these efforts are aimed at suppressing the aspirations of local youth rather than addressing security needs.

Observers note that this is not a new strategy: similar local militia programs were attempted in the 1980s and 1990s, but they largely failed. Today, training camps are being established in districts like Rajouri, Poonch, and other border areas, continuing the same pattern under a new name.

Critics warn that creating additional armed groups may not resolve the underlying political and social issues in the disputed region, and that local demands for autonomy and freedom cannot be addressed purely through militarization.
