Just finished converting my attic and have moved all my music gear up there. Fired everything up and decided to share the result as a first video in my new studio. Nothing special, just a short improv to showcase one of my favourite Helix tones.

The Litigator amp model in the Helix is fast becoming my favourite for those 'edge of breakup' low gain tones. In this patch I'm running the Litigator with just tiny amount of the Minotaur overdrive before the amp to add a little fizz.I love the way the tone cleans right up as you roll of the guitar volume. If you pull the guitar volume back to around 8 the patch sounds crisp and clean and as you push it to ten you get all the nice grit. It's really responsive to playing and shows me what I was missing with my previous gear.

Here I'm just playing over a C drone or 'pedal tone' (from the Prophet 6). I do this a lot and I'd recommend it to all as a great practice tool. As you play over a pedal tone you hear lots of interesting things. It really helps you understand, learn and feel what character and emotion certain modes or chord voicings create. Without a pedal tone it's very difficult to discern how a note will 'feel' in a piece of music.
So I always try to take half an hour whenever I can to sit down, close the door and just play over a note.

Anyway, in terms of gear here it's just the Helix and my Lexicon PCM-80. I love the Helix but I just can't give up the reverb on the PCM-80. Once you've been spoiled with the quality of Lexicon reverb... nothing else will do!! The reverbs on the Helix are nice but they're not Lexicon!
