Gunmen in Mexico's central Guanajuato state killed 11 people and injured 12 others on Sunday following a soccer match.
According to authorities the armed attackers opened fire on a post-game gathering in the city of Salamanca.
Salamanca’s mayor said the motive was not immediately clear and called the attack “cowardly,” adding that a woman and a child were among the injured.
The state attorney general’s office promised a thorough investigation.
State police have reinforced security across the area as they hunt for the perpetrators responsible for the attack.
