Use this demonstration to effectively show your students two changes of state in one experiment.

This common secondary science lesson involves exploring heating or cooling curves, with a focus on changes of state. Although it’s fairly simple to derive a cooling curve involving a solidification, you can demonstrate two changes of state in one experiment heating a solid using tert-butanol. This demo is for 11–14 students when looking at changes of state angle, and 16–18 when looking at entropy, heat capacity or latent heat aspects.
