Aero L-29 Delfín - A Cold War Jet Fighter Trainer

The Aero L-29 Delfín ('Dolphin' in English) is a military jet trainer developed and manufactured by Czechoslovakian aviation manufacturer Aero Vodochody. It was the country's first locally designed and constructed jet aircraft, as well as likely being the biggest aircraft industrial programme to take place in any Eastern Bloc country except the Soviet Union.

The L-29 became the standard trainer for the air forces of Warsaw Pact nations, from the early1960s onwards. During the early 1970s, the type was succeeded in the principal trainer role by another Aero-built aircraft, the L-39 Albatros, which contributing to a decline in demand for L-2'9's and the production of these aircraft ceased in 1974 after over 3600 examples had been built.
