2023 XC - NXN Girls Race and Awards

This is the Girls National Championship Race, including Awards, from 2023 NXN (Nike Cross Nationals), held December 3 at Glendoveer Golf Course in Portland, OR. The course is 5K, and it was very, very sloppy after both significant rainfall and the boys race chewing up the course earlier in the day. Athletes from Colorado dominated, with Niwot (CO) sophomore Addy Ritzenhein winning the race and Academy (Air Force Academy, CO) senior Bethany Michalak placing second. The top three teams were all from Colorado, with Academy first, Niwot second and Denver (Mountain Vista High - Highlands Ranch) third. Clovis (Buchanan High) was the highest placing team from CA at 8th place. Soph Jaelyn Williams of Eastlake (near San Diego CA) almost didn't get invited to NXN, but ended up in 7th place overall. Holly Barker of Trabuco Hills placed 12th and was the only other CA athlete to make the top 20. Many thanks to Nike for putting on an amazing national championship for the high school running community. Memories and experiences to last a lifetime.
