Description:
The plot of the ballet is based on an old German legend about the beautiful princess Odette, who was turned into a swan by the sorcerer Rothbart. The first production to Tchaikovsky's music was created by Julius Resinger with a libretto by Vladimir Begichev and possibly Vasily Geltser. Opinions about the source of inspiration for Pyotr Ilyich differ. It is strongly believed in Germany that the composer wrote the music under the impression of a lake located in the foothills of the Alps near the city of Füssen. In Russia, it is generally accepted that the prototype for the ballet was either the Votkinsk factory pond, on which the windows of Tchaikovsky's house overlooked, or a small pond near the Novodevichy Convent in Moscow.

Among the many performers of the 20th century, at least two amazing duets entered the history of world ballet: Maya Plisetskaya and Nikolai Fadeechev and Margot Fonteyn and Rudolf Nureyev. Before you is another version of the immortal work of Tchaikovsky. Its author is Heinz Spoerli, chief choreographer of the Zurich Opera House, Vladimir Ivanovich Fedoseev is the conductor, and Polina Semyonova and Stanislav Ermakov will perform in the main roles. So, whatever one may say, the production is still more “ours” than Swiss.

Polina Semyonova graduated from the ballet school at the Bolshoi Theater and became famous for being the first Russian woman to receive the Daphne Prize in Germany. This prize of the Union of Berlin Theater Fans, awarded since 1976 to debutants, was presented to her in 2005 at the Berlin State Opera Unter den Linden. And before the ceremony, 20-year-old Polina performed the role of Nikki in the ballet La Bayadère. In 2006, at the invitation of choreographer Vladimir Malakhov, she moved to Berlin and became a soloist with the new State Ballet, which emerged from the merger of dance companies from three capital theaters. In Switzerland, Polina Semyonova will perform for the first time, but her partner, a native of Tallinn, Stanislav Ermakov, is almost a helvet. He joined the Zurich Opera in the 1997/98 season and has since performed in leading roles in such ballets as The Nutcracker, Coppellia, Cinderella and, of course, Swan Lake.

The premiere of the ballet took place at the Bolshoi Theater on March 4, 1877, and the first performer of the part, which became the standard of choreographic art, was the ballerina Polina Karpakova, almost forgotten today.

В основе сюжета балета – старинная немецкая легенда о прекрасной принцессе Одетте, превращённой в лебедя колдуном Ротбартом. Первая постановка на музыку Чайковского была создана Юлиусом Резингером на либретто Владимира Бегичева и, возможно, Василия Гельцера. Мнения об источнике вдохновения Петра Ильича расходятся. В Германии прочно верят, что композитор написал музыку под впечатлением от озера, находящегося в предгорьях Альп недалеко от города Фюссен. В России принято считать, что прообразом для балета стал либо Воткинский заводской пруд, на который выходили окна дома Чайковского, либо небольшой прудик возле Новодевичьего монастыря в Москве.

Среди множества исполнителей 20 века в историю мирового балета, безусловно, вошли, по крайней мере, два потрясающих дуэта: Майя Плисецкая и Николай Фадеечев и Марго Фонтейн и Рудольф Нуриев. Перед вами ещё одна версия бессмертного произведения Чайковского. Её автор – главный хореограф Цюрихского оперного театра Хайнц Шпёрли, за дирижёрским пультом Владимир Иванович Федосеев, а в главных партиях выступят Полина Семёнова и Станислав Ермаков. Так что, как ни крути, постановка всё же больше «наша», чем швейцарская.

Премьера балета состоялась в Большом театре 4 марта 1877 года, а первой исполнительницей партии, ставшей эталоном хореографического искусства, была практически забытая сегодня балерина Полина Карпакова.
