The Ledbury Hunt started the day off by trying to hunt a fox near to the layby off the A438 (those who were in the Glos cull-zone may know that place well!) as they had a day's hunting planned around the Forthampton Estate. As well as being a pheasant shooting estate, Forthampton were also part of last year's badger cull. Now that the pheasant shooting season has drawn to a close, we expect to be seeing more of the Ledbury in that area on their Friday hunting days.

When the first fox got away, huntsman Will Goffe collected the hounds together and took them further into the land to try and pick up on the scent again which they did for some time before ending up in Voulter's Wood.

Having tested the brakes on their off-road buggies (which, evidently, do not work well when driving down a muddy bank) Forthampton staff refused to comment on the illegality of the day's activities and instead repeatedly threatened to shove sabs' cameras places where you would not want a camera shoved...

Sabs followed this by being threatened with similar things by other hunt support. An original lot, this bunch. Witty comments about whether the day was wet and if the sabs have better things to do where also made, while sabs preferred to spend their time rating the hounds back from foxes running from the woods.

After a little sightseeing around the estate, the hunt obviously decided Voulter's Wood was much more exciting and headed back there again, this time picking up on the scents of a brace of foxes. Despite supporters waving and pointing to show Will which direction one of the foxes ran, sabs had him on camera and Will called the hounds back together, obviously hoping to follow the scent of the other off-camera.

Having drawn a small covert near to the main road, some of the hunt taking nasty tumbles (and sabs genuinely running to see if they were ok) and the A438 and adjoining roads being backed up while Will Goffe took his sweet time deciding where to go next, the hunt packed up soon after at 13.15 at the Hunters Inn. Hunt support reckon they killed a fox during the day (always a possibility, even with sabs around) but we know our presence helped at least two others.
