Today's question from Anonymous - "I've been working on a blog for an aviation specialty training company for a long time, it isn't getting the attention and visibility for our company and our products that it used to. Am I doing something wrong or is blogging just dead?"

Are blogs a thing of the past for aviation marketing?

Not dead, just changed. Your blog IS actually generating attention from your blog that your customers don't have.

1- Quality is more important. Content saturation syndrome." You have a specialty topic, but you're still competing with a ton of other information for overall attention, even if you're the only blog about your specialty topic. People have less attention to go around. Focus on your headlines & sharing images. Consider hiring professional writers that will take the time to produce quality work and be consistent about timing. Ideally you want your articles to be part of your customers weekly habit. 2- Your blog should not be about you, your company, or even your product. It should be about your customer. People don't care how much you know unless they know how much you care. Customer questions, customer spotlights, case studies about the results they get from using your product.


3- Promotion is just as important as production of content. The Content Code by Mark W. Shaefer is mainly about promoting the content you’ve created. (Great content is just table stakes!)
