How to Help Kids with Autism Who Struggle With Making Choices

Do you know kids who have trouble getting started with projects?

Do you know kids who chose the same activity every time they are given a choice?

Difficulty making choices is a very common aspect of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Often when we give children on the spectrum a choice, they do nothing, or they choose the same thing over and over.
For neuro-diverse kids, being asked to make choices can be overwhelming, make them feel anxious, and cause disengagement. These kids may spend all their time trying to make what looks to others a simple choice, rather than doing their work or participating in class.
