storyline; tate and lydia went to school together and lydia was always interested in him, despite his strange behaviour. after the school shootings, lydia's banshee powers enabled her to hear tate being killed. as a ghost, tate is able to allow himself to be seen. he only lets himself be seen by Lydia, who believes he's changed. they embark on a relationship, lydia convincing him to seek psychiatric help from dr harmon. however, it's not long before tate kills again. lydia forgives him but as he becomes more unstable, she breaks their relationship off, telling him she doesn't want to be with a bad guy. tate loses it and decides that the only way lydia will be with him is if she's dead too. so he kidnaps her and kills her. she becomes a ghost and tate is filled with guilt.
