Mahón - also known as Maó, in the local Catalan language - is the capital city of Menorca, one of the tourist-laden Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea. The city became Menorca's capital following the British Occupation of the island in 1708.

Amongst several churches, parks and squares, the city is known for having one of the largest natural harbours in Europe, with much of the town's hustle-and-bustle happening close to the Port of Mahon. It is also known for being one of the origins - and potentially the birthplace - of Mayonnaise.
