Photographing the hidden Canyon - Iceland

A week before I left for Iceland a friend of mine mentioned the Secret canyon in Iceland. I'd never heard of it before, but after a quick search on Flickr and Google it wasn't to hard to establish its rough location.

Other than the initial search, I put it on the back burner of places to visit and we would perhaps use it as a back up plan.

As the weather forecast was about to turn we thought we'd stay within 30 minutes of the hotel and so the Canyon came in very handy. Upon reflection, I wish I had researched it a little more and chosen a different time of day to shoot it, but I couldn't control the weather and as we had very limited time in the area I didn't have a lot of options.

I think the better compositions may have been higher up, but as the winds were starting to pick up we decided to stop when we did. Looking back, it was the right decision, as by the time we made it back to the car we struggled to open the boot in fear of it being ripped off its hinges. The weather turns fast in Iceland!

I'd certainly return and next time I'd use TPE to establish the best time of year to shoot it. The sun really needs to be behind the camera, with low light flooding the canyon walls.

Sorry for not saying exactly where it is, but so far no one else has and I don't want to be "that guy" just for a few extra views, but as I say in the video, its not hard to work out.
