Beginning a series of John Waters' appearances on Late Night. Here's Part 1, from 1982:

1. March 18: Glenn Milstead, better known on stage and screen as Divine, performs "Born to Be Cheap." John Waters then joins him in the next two segments, introducing his book Shock Value and discussing his films, which includes a clip from "Polyester."

2. August 24: John again plugs Shock Value and then plays clips from "Female Trouble," "Multiple Maniacs," "Pink Flamingos," and Desperate Living."
In the last segment, John happy describes a letter he received from a "15-year-old kid" who turns out to have been Fred Armisen.
