In the glittering world of 1960s Bombay cinema, two actresses—Zara Fernandes and Chandni Roy—make their film debuts on the same day. Chandni’s film Reena Mera Naam becomes a massive hit, while Zara’s Ujjwal Nirmal Sheetal flops at the box office. Consumed by envy and arrogance, Zara picks a fight with Chandni at an awards afterparty, leading to a public altercation. Hours later, Zara is found dead—pushed from the terrace of a film studio.
Chandni becomes the prime suspect, with public and police suspicion mounting. Desperate to clear her name, her lover Ravi Kumar, a disgraced ex-cop turned actor, launches his own investigation. Ravi had debuted in the same film as Zara, giving him connections in the industry and access to the suspects.
Ravi begins uncovering secrets:
Virmaan, Chandni’s ex, had a history of possessiveness.
Subba Prasad, Zara’s director, was desperate for fame after their film flopped.
KD, a popular music director, had a turbulent affair with Zara.
Shabnam, KD's wife, was reportedly furious about his infidelity.
As Ravi digs deeper, he pieces together the fatal night:
Zara had gone to the terrace after her fight with Chandni and met KD there—suggesting their affair was still active. When Shabnam came searching for KD, he panicked. In trying to flee, KD accidentally pushed Zara, causing her to fall from the terrace. She landed near director Subba Prasad’s window—injured, but alive. Seeing an opportunity to revive his failing film’s popularity through tragedy, Subba ignored her cries for help and let her fall further, hoping her death would bring attention.
Both KD and Subba are arrested: KD receives a 7-year sentence, Subba a life term.
But the mystery takes one final twist.
As the courtroom empties, Chandni tearfully embraces Ravi, thanking him for saving her. Ravi holds her close—and quietly reveals that he knows she killed Zara.
In a chilling flashback, after Subba let Zara fall, Chandni had found her—still alive. Blinded by rage and rivalry, Chandni smashed a glass bottle on Zara’s head, delivering the fatal blow.
Ravi, torn between justice and love, chooses to stay silent, letting Chandni walk free.
