In a shocking scene at the White House today, President Trump and Vice-President Vance openly berated Ukrainian President Zelensky for not being grateful enough for the U.S.’s help. A short while later Zelensky left without signing the mineral agreement that the Trump administration insisted upon, leaving the prospects for any peace deal involving the United States completely up in the air.

European media outlets are reporting this as a major win for Vladimir Putin, as once again Donald Trump seems willing to toss aside any past relationship that America had with Europe, or any other American ally, even if it greatly benefits Russia. Or perhaps, because of that. The Kyiv Independent, which is Ukraine's English-language media outlet, put it this way in an opinion piece: “A president just disrespected America in the Oval Office. It wasn’t Zelensky.”
