What’s the difference between free T3 and total T3 and which is more valuable to you as a thyroid patient? The answer is that it depends on what you are looking for. Free T3 tends to get most attentive because it tells you how much T3 is available to be used by the body. The only problem with free T3 is that it can be easily manipulated depending on when and how you get your thyroid labs tested. You can combat this by getting total T3 which provides a more long-term outlook of T3 levels in your body.
