The things that Nelson Mandela missed the most during his many years on Robben Island was the joyful presence of little children—their sweet little voices, silky-smooth skin, and tiny little hands. Aptly, before he passed on, he tasked his team with building a much-needed children’s healthcare facility, for all the children of Africa. Building the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital turned out to be a lot harder than anyone had imagined. But the spectacular success of the project once again proved that, as Mandela himself would say, “It always seems impossible until it is done.”
