Preparation is necessary, below are some notes from the video above. I used these bullet points to create the video. These are from my personal experience, however, If by chance you have any more tips to share, please post a comment so that others can learn too!
If you would like you can also watch this video from a few years ago, which is still pretty good:    • New Nurse? How to Ace the NURSE INTER...

1. Search very difficult interview questions - you will see a lot of open ended interview questions…. with a little bit of practice you do really well. Most people do not prepare, so when you do, it will show.

Examples of open ended questions and answers are discussed in the video.
Tell me about yourself - prepare a timeline include your past relevant experiences… i.e. waitressing, relevant medical experience or even family situations that were medical in nature.

What do you know about our hospital - when you do your research this will be the easiest one to answer. But obviously research is necssary.

Why do want to work with us? You have to have something positive prepared, I have heard a lot about word of mouth, I compared this to other hospitals ect.

Questions - how do you deal with customers that are upset? Talk about a miscommunication where you triumph. Nurses are the first, last and middle face of the hospital and customer service over the last few years has become a hot topic.

Have you ever had a conflict with another nurse or nursing assistant - try to think of a time when you were able to push your emotions aside… is it possible that you approached this the wrong way. Did you attract this? Put emotions aside and try to make the situation better.

There will most likely be multiple interviewers in the room. These people can be other nurses, nursing directors or nursing administration.

Don’t be too much in a rush - take a deep breath in and then answer. When you are finished with your answer, stop talking and smile.

What is the nurse to pt. ratio, are there nursing assistance, do we have such. Avoid this question unless you already have multiple guaranteed job offers. This question can insinuate that when this expectation is not met you will be at the director/managers door complaining.

You need to go into the interview prepared enough to say that I’m worth $50k right now…. it is very expensive, it is a lot of work. Your training is usually about 3-4 months… prepare as much as you can, you will be happy that you did.

I can honestly say that I have been hired for almost every job, so your not hearing “theoretical” advice. You may also find it surprising to know that I’m not naturally a great speaker. I mess words up and stumble a lot. However, when I practice, I can do really really well. So even I practice for every interview for weeks. Then… blow them away :)

Thank you for watching and please visit Relode, it was very nice of them to sponsor this video for you and they have a platform that honestly every nurse should be part of.
See you soon my love!
