"Nonprofit Founders and Organizational Succession: Joys and Challenges" was a virtual event hosted by the Master of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership (MPNL) program on March 26, 2024. Moderated by Dr. Susan Phillips, Graduate Supervisor of the MPNL program and Professor in Carleton’s School of Public Policy & Administration, the panel of four people included:
1) Susanna Kislenko, a social psychologist who researches founder leadership in both nonprofit and for-profit contexts. Kislenko is an Adjunct Research Professor in the School of Public Policy & Administration, at Carleton University, and is the Skoll Centre Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Oxford.
2) Marc Hull-Jacquin, the Founder and CEO of Shelter Movers, a national, volunteer-powered charitable organization providing moving and storage services at no cost to individuals and families fleeing abuse.
3) Dr. Paloma Raggo, an Assistant Professor at the School of Public Policy and Administration, at Carleton University, and Director of Charity Insights Canada Project / Projet Canada Perspectives des Organismes de Bienfaisance (CICP-PCPOB).
4) Mary A. Tidlund, a business leader, board member, nonprofit consultant and international philanthropist who co-founded numerous corporations, including Williston Wildcatters Oil Corporation, and who founded the former Mary A. Tidlund Charitable Foundation -- and who's the author of Memoirs of a Wildcat: Unadoptable, Unstoppable, Unconditional Love.
