If you want to learn how to microsolder, I would recommend you practice on iPhone 6 Plus motherboards. These models are very cheap to buy dead & iCloud locked boards to practice on. You can also find fully working phones for cheap too. Plus, iPhone 6 Plus with Touch Disease is a super common problem on these devices.

You first want to start off by grabbing dead boards & do these 3 things:

✅ Pull and place ICs. Do it like 5-10 times
✅ Reball an IC. Also, do it like 5-10 times
✅ Run jumpers. Pull the Touch IC & scratch out all the visible traces & run jumpers to every single one.

You want to do all these 3 things so you can get used to working under the microscope & nail down your micro hand movements. This is something you MUST practice & spend time improving your skills. Trust me, it will be worth it at the end.

Once you are confident in the process, you can move onto iCloud locked boards that turn on & function on the hello screen. Doesn’t matter if touch works. The goal is to go through the full Touch IC repair: Pull Meson, reball it, run M1 jumper, then place the IC. Then power on the phone again. Does touch still continue to function? If yes, you successfully did the job correction.
If it doesn’t turn on, or now there’s no touch, or there’s some other issue, then something obviously went wrong.

So then you can grab another iCloud locked board & try again.. And again.. And again.
