Pancreatic cystic neoplasms are abnormal growths in the pancreas, which can be either benign or malignant. They are often asymptomatic but can cause abdominal pain or jaundice. Diagnosis typically involves imaging tests like CT scans and MRIs, with treatment options ranging from observation to surgical removal depending on the type and risk of malignancy.
There are high-risk features and worrisome features on imaging that help us identify the lesions that may harbor malignancy or that have the chance of turning into pancreatic cancer.

Pancreatic cyst fluid analysis involves sampling and examining the fluid collected from pancreatic cysts to aid in diagnosis and management decisions. The analysis includes biochemical tests, such as amylase and CEA levels, to differentiate between mucinous and non-mucinous cysts and assess the risk of malignancy. Cytological examination helps identify abnormal cells, while imaging techniques like endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and MRI provide additional information on cyst morphology. This analysis assists clinicians in determining the appropriate treatment strategy, which may range from surveillance to surgical intervention, depending on the cyst's characteristics and risk factors.
