Is This the Last Great Mercedes-Benz? Reviewing the W124 and Driving a 1989 300 CE Coupe.

I will admit this topic has been done and done again. I haven't searched it, but can only assume YouTube is replete with videos about these cars, and many of them center around its importance to Mercedes-Benz and the automotive industry at large, while others discuss how it could well be the last great Mercedes.

I don't care.

There is a special place in my heart for these cars, and having not done a coupe before, I jumped at the chance to take one home, drive it, and review it. I feel no regrets, and would do it again in a heartbeat.

The W124 is a car from a very special time at Mercedes-Benz, and to me, represents the pinnacle of what that company could do at the time it was made. The resources, people and material, that went in to the design, engineering and production of this car came together in a way that's unlikely to ever be replicated.

Needless to say, I'm a fan of these cars.
